This Persian Kerman Ravar carpet is published in;

THE PERSIAN CARPET, ‘The Fabric of Life’, Essie Sakhai, Woodbridge, 2008.

pl. 82.  pp. 134-137.

An outstanding and important Ravar Kerman carpet, has realistically depicted peacocks as well as cartouches containing animal combat groups of the kind found on 16th17th century Kerman carpets. In the central cartouche, there is a typical mini-landscape scene with ducks floating on a pond, fish in the water, trees and flowers growing on the bank, and two large birds. Like many of the greatest Kerman carpets, this has a cartouche at the top end containing an inwoven inscription that reads ‘Farmayesh Faroukhe 1334’ [By order of Faroukhe Amini 1913-14CE]. The Amini family are documented as having been important carpet workshop owners and merchants in Kerman in the early-20th century. This carpet is exceptionally rare for its quality, design, and size.

Antique Persian Kerman Ravar carpet handwoven from wool in Iran. This item is in a large format considered palace size, and bears exquisite peacock designs in the field. The cartouche at the top bears the detail of the special order and date of production given by the weaving establishment.
