Extremely Fine unique Persian Tabriz Carpet Garden design fine kork wool.

A magnificent early 20th century Tabriz carpet, which displays a recognisable design based on a 17th century classical ‘Group’ of carpets referred to as the garden design. This is defined by a rendition of flower bordered rills linking densely planted islands, pools and watercourses all interspersed with formal flower beds aand trees. The classical original versions were attributed to Kerman in Southeast Persia, but later adopted by Kurdish weavers in North West Persia, possibly due to migration in the early 18th century as a result of political upheaval under the reign of Nadir Shah (1736-1747). This revivalist Tabriz carpet recalls this important design and uses a wonderful range of jewel like colours to give credence to this fine composition.
