Antique Persian Qashqai Rug Medallion design Wool Pile

This Persian Qashqai rug is published in;

THE PERSIAN CARPET, ‘The Fabric of Life’, Essie Sakhai, Woodbridge, 2008.

pl. 242,  p. 301.

An impressive rug attributable to the
Shishboluki taifeh of the Qashqa’i Confederation
probably dating to the late 19th century. Although the
overall design as well as the individual elements of this
example are familiar, there is one interesting and
unusual feature. This is the ‘bar’ with tight overall
lattice decoration seen at either side of the field;
these, it seems clear, are residual cypress trees left over,
as it were, from the millefleurs prayer rug design.

Antique Persian Qashqai Rug. This piece was handwoven in Qashqai , Iran. For further information please contact us and our team will be pleased to assist you.
