Persian Tabriz Square Rug. Ottoman Inspired Design – Signed

This Fine Persian Tabriz rug displays a design based on a specific design as seen in late 16th century Ottoman silk velvet and metal thread textiles known as ‘Catma’.

This finely woven Tabriz rug displays  repeat ivory floral motifs arranged in offset rows represents a seven petalled carnation which is attached to ivory leaves and root stems and these are supported by cone forms, all presented on a deep red  background.  The colours used in this Tabriz rug mirror the basic colours seen in the  16th century Ottoman ‘Catma’.

There is no doubting that this classical textile design works superbly as a pattern for a  fine  hand knotted rug, woven by an accomplished highly skilled  weaver, fully conversant with  eastern weaving traditions. As such, this fine Tabriz rug is signed by the master weaver.
