Persian Mahal Large Carpet – Oversize – Wool – Allover Art Nouveau Design Light colour complexion with accents of light blue and brown

The design of this Persian Mahal carpet displays a simplified rendition of an established design in the Arts and Crafts style attributed to the Silver Studio, Donegal, Ireland, dating to circa 1902. This original more complex design was entitled the ‘Fintona’ woven for Liberty’s and the carpet with this ‘ hemlock’ tree design was originally displayed at the Grafton Gallery, London, during a Liberty’s exhibition in 1903.

This Mahal carpet ‘version’ is simplified, displaying a wonderful spacious composition, with the pattern elements presented in a wonderful range of complementary pale colours. Pale blue, brown and beige together with accent tones, set on an ivory ground are beautifully juxtaposed to maximise the visual impact of this established design. This established ‘Arts and Crafts’ design would superbly fit within both traditional or contemporary interior settings.
