Persian Kerman Ravar Antique – Fine Royalty Pictorial Rug – Mashahir (Celebrities) Approx 2.5×1.5m (7x4ft) Neutral complexion on red base

This delightful pictorial rug of Persian Kerman Ravar origin is a fine antique homage to a royal figure of the time, often referred to as Mashahir (Celebrities). The person in this image has the denotation King of Kings of Iran (Shah-an-Shah transliterated from Farsi) together with the name Iraj son of Fereidoun (transliterated from Farsi, yet styled in Arabic syntax) and is a notable character of the Persian Epic of Kings (Shahnameh transliterated from Farsi).

This Persian Kerman Ravar antique was handwoven in Iran, and items of this period would have been made using only naturally available resources. Neutral complexion on red base. The colourway in this antique is remarkably similar to another antique depicting a lady.
