Fine Rare Persian Bokhara Carpet Allover design kork (cashmere) wool pile on silk foundation

This Persian Bokhara carpet is a rare and unique example of type and origin. Normally rugs of this type are woven with a wool pile on either a cotton or wool foundation, based on tradition. However not only is the pile woven with the finest kork (cashmere) wool  but the pile is woven on a silk foundation. This combination is extremely rare for carpets of this type and allows for  a high knot count creating a finely drawn design with a tight clpse cropped pile. Furthermore it is particularly rare to find a Persian Bokhara carpet of this outstanding quality woven in this size. Normally smaller rugs are seen of this type since the creation of larger sized carpets  is extremely labour intensive.
