Exquisite Fine Esfahan Carpet, Signed

This is an Exquisite Persian Esfahan carpet. Patterns evolve over time and this finely woven Esfahan rug, signed by the master weaver, as seen in the inscription to one end, within the Iranian flag, reading; IRAN ESFAHAN SAFAIE. It is an example of such evolution, displaying an original style of design seen in a small and highly significant group of technically superior Pahlavi mid-20th Century rugs. This group displays traditional classical 16th century subject matter, with delicately drawn floral forms presented in exceptionally accurate detail drawn in a remarkably fine sketchy style; arranged in an open spacious way ensuing the pattern is easy to read, only possible to replicate due to the superior quality of the materials which includes effective use of silk highlighting and the exceptional skill of the weaver. The colours from the characteristic mid-20th century Esfahan palette which are essentially monochrome in tone enhance the appearance and have been chosen to produce a harmonic stunning and highly distinctive composition. The colours include tones of brown, buff, chocolate brown, dove grey and ivory on a cream background, all juxtaposed to create a consummate image of delicacy and refinement. This rug is woven with fine kork wool, (cashmere) and silk on silk foundation.
