Decorative Egyptian Rug. Caucasian Shirvan Design  Allover design | Mihrab design Wool Pile

The design of this Egyptian rug is based on a style of design as seen in traditional  rugs woven in the east Caucasus region of Shirvan. This is identifiable as such by the  pattern motifs presenting stylised flora forms drawn in a characteristic Shirvan rectilinear style. The design is asymmetric defined as a prayer rug format with an arch at one end. The colours used  ensure that the composition is easy to read and harmonic in appearance. The muted red field area supports the pattern elements woven in muted blue, saffron and green with dark blue outlining. The contrasting ivory border acts as a superb frame which enhances the appearance of the entire composition.
