This Caucasian Karabakh runner is published in;

THE PERSIAN CARPET, ‘The Fabric of Life’, Essie Sakhai, Woodbridge, 2008.

pl. 324, p. 402.

A very good Karabakh runner from the late-19th Century. As is so often the case with Karabakh weavings, this typical long rug combines an Eastern approach to the overall layout (with a field design repeated between borders) with European elements to create the overall design. The almost architectural elements of the field  are borrowed from French or English 18th century originals, whilst the pattern in the border is the gol farangi. Probably made for the European market.
