Bakhtiari Carpet Allover design Wool Pile

This Persian Bakhtiari carpet is published in;

THE STORY OF CARPETS, Essie Sakhai, London, 1991.

p. 117.

 A typically lavish rug from the Bakhtiari-owned workshops in the Chahar Mahall Valley. The multiple star-medallion arrangement in the field is particularly attractive, as is the elegant floral border on an ivory ground, the latter probably derived from Esfahan city rugs. There is no evidence of the use of synthetic dye in this rug although it may well date from the 1920s or even the 1930s.
