A handsome late-19th century Saruk of rich colouring and design made
with fine-quality silky wool. The beautifully combined colours of the deep-blue field,
with the floral ‘diamond’ arabesques, and an unusual integrated border make it one
of the finest examples of Saruk weaving. The field design itself is one familiar from
17th century Kerman carpets in the ‘vase’ technique. It was also very poplar with
Moghul Indian weavers at the same time.

Antique Persian Saruk carpet handwoven from wool in Iran. Allover diamond garden design.
