Antique Karabakh Rug Allover design Wool Pile

This Karabakh rug is published in;

THE STORY OF CARPETS, Essie Sakhai, London, 1991.

p. 113.

Medallion gol farangi, Karabagh, 313 AH (1895/6 AD). Although one should be a bit wary of dates woven into rugs, this one is entirely consistent with the piece’s excellent quality and undoubted age. The off-set arrangement of large medallions on a blue ground is a little unusual and the rendering of the gol farangi pattern within these medallions is both original and charming.
