A splendid Saruk with an elaborate floral arabesque repeat in the field. Both the design and the colours, as well as the particular rendition of the ‘turtle’ palmette border, are all distinctive characteristics of north-west Persian weaving and of Saruk weaving in particular; they can be found in closely related versions of rugs from many different weaving centres influenced by Saruk.
