Old Persian Qashqai Carpet Medallion design Wool Pile

This Persian Qashqai carpet is published in;

THE PERSIAN CARPET, ‘The Fabric of Life’, Essie Sakhai, Woodbridge, 2008.

pl. 248,  p. 306.

A rug from Fars in south-west Persia, it has warps of mixed
sheep’s wool and goat’s hair. It is probably the work of the Arabs,
one of the five ethnically diverse and unrelated tribes of the
Khamseh Confederation. The design of this rug overall is typical
of Khamseh work; the specific designs within each diamond medallion
can also be found on Khamseh bag-faces and the lattice pattern
seen in the white-ground corners is found on some of the earliest
and most beautiful Khamseh rugs.
