The term Gol Farangi literally means foreign flower, seemingly based on motifs or patterns seen in 18th and 19th century French Savonnerie and Aubusson carpets. The orientalised design is dominated by stylised, rectilinear cabbage roses invariably seen in clusters of three flower heads and related foliage.
This particular pattern, consisting of an offset repeat of an irregular cartouche containing sprays of stylised roses (gul farangi), was obviously popular, and continues to be so judging from the number of times it is encountered in Bidjar weavings and woven in other weaving centres. This pattern is particularly present from the early 20th century onwards.. The pattern itself is derived from an established European textile pattern, the shape and outlining of each cartouche retaining a strong flavour of 18th century French rococo design.

In-store collection will be ready within 1 business day. To collect in-store you will be required to show confirmation e-mail, official photo ID (passport or driving license) and the payment card used for the order. If someone else is collecting on your behalf, please make sure they bring a letter of authorisation that permits this person to collect on your behalf, official photo ID of the purchaser and of the person collecting and confirmation e-mail.
